Custom Valances, shades and top treatments provide visual interest to a room. Details and embellishments make them truly custom. Various techniques are used while constructing top treatments. Soft valances are properly lined to minimize the shadowing that sometimes results when the window meets the wall. Soft cornices can be constructed from a variety of materials best suited to the application, while hard cornices are upholstered on wood-constructed boxes. The design of the treatments, as well as the installation objectives, often drive the materials and methods of fabrication.
Roman shades can provide both privacy and light control. When using blackout lining, it’s important to minimize the “starlight” effect when sewing the rings to the shade. We’ve perfected a great technique. Here’s a short video showing it in action.
